How long do eyelash extensions last?

It can vary. Every person’s experience will differ based on their eyelash characteristics, lifestyle, and general care. Your eyelashes are constantly growing and shedding. The average life cycle of an eyelash is 60-90 days, and each lash is at a different stage of growth.  If an extension is attached to a lash that is nearing the end of its life cycle, they will both fall out together. This means that most people will lose 1-3 natural lashes per day on average. This is a natural occurrence during the shedding process, and clients should not be alarmed. Properly applied extensions do not affect the growth cycle but you may notice the shedding more than before because your lashes are darker and thicker with the extensions attached.

What is the process like of getting eyelash extensions?

It can take up to 2-3 hours for a full set. In fact, you lay back, close your eyes, and relax - and don’t be surprised if you nap! We start with a consultation as each person’s lashes will vary in strength and length. Eyepads are applied to bottom lashes for client safety and protection. The ending is a special final step that allows our clients to get their lashes wet within 4 hours of application.

What do eyelash extensions feel like when they’re on?

When properly applied using isolation methods, appropriate lash lengths and diameters for your natural lashes, they look and feel just like your own natural lashes. They should not feel heavy, itch, or a pulling sensation.

How do I know which lash set I should pick? Classic or Volume?

During your initial consultation, your natural lashes will be evaluated. If you have naturally thick lashes, classic 1:1 lashes will work. If you have few natural lashes or like the fullness of what a strip lash looks like, volume lashes will work the best.

Are volume lashes cluster lashes?

Volume lashes should not be confused with cluster lashes. Cluster lashes are pre-made fans with synthetic fibers bound together.

How often are touch ups recommended?

On average, our clients come in every 2-3 weeks. If you wait too long for a touch up, you will have too much loss and require a full set. They also will become unruly because of the growth of your natural lashes under the extension. Touch ups are required to replenish any lashes that have fallen out due to the completion of their life cycle. Grown out lashes are also removed. The more extensions you have on before your fill, the better your fill will be. It is very hard to get a new set look on just fill time.

How do I prepare for my initial set and touch ups?

Please arrive to your appointment reservation with clean lashes free of make-up. The longer we take to clean off your lashes if there is residual left, the less time we have to lash. Also, if your lashes are clean, they will bond better wish means they will last longer! If you need to wash your face and lashes, towels and foaming cleansers are provided on site.  Please allot for extra time before your appointment if you choose to do so.  Also, make sure to wear comfortable clothing as you’ll be lying down for an extended period of time.

Please also turn off cell phones as making and taking phone calls and texts is prohibited, unless it is a special circumstance. This is a time for us to create and design, so please extend us the courtesy!

What if I wear contacts?

Wearing contacts does not affect your lash extensions in any way. It is recommended that you remove your contact lenses before your visit.

Can I still wear mascara with eyelash extensions?

It is not recommended or required since the extensions already give the illusion of mascara. Build up of makeup can shorten the life of your extensions.

What do I do if I want them removed?

Do not attempt to remove them yourself. A trained professional must remove them with a special formulated adhesive remover. Pulling or picking off lash extensions can cause damage. The other alternative is to naturally let them all shed off naturally.

How do I care for my new lashes?

Following aftercare instructions provided at the initial appointment and using approved cosmetics will help prevent premature shedding and ensure longer lasting results. It is imperative that you wash your lash line daily with a foaming cleanser formulated for eyelash extensions. Our skin secretes oil, and oil is one of the main things that will cause premature loss. Poor hygiene results in premature loss and sensitivities.

Dry off with a hair dryer on a cool setting, and once dried, brush through with a mascara wand daily to help tame and fluff up lashes.

Why do I have to wash my lash extensions?

Our natural lashes protect our eye from debris and allergens. It is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT to wash your lashes regularly with extensions on. Allergens can get trapped near your eye making allergies worse. Clean lashes will last longer, and doing so will protect your eyes and your investment. Constant neglect of your lashes will result in increased sensitivity and a higher chance of allergic reactions.
